Emmie Matsuno

 

Emmie is an advanced doctoral student in counseling psychology and works with Dr. Tania Israel at UC Santa Barbara. Their research interests include transgender mental health, resilience, minority stress, internalized stigma, and intervention research. Emmie is passionate about supporting transgender communities and worked with the Santa Barbara Transgender Advocacy Network for over two years as Vice President, board member, and group facilitator for transgender youth and young adults. They are also a member of the APAGS committee on sexual orientation and gender diversity, a member of the Trans Task Force at UCSB, and the chair of the Division 35 Section IV graduate student committee. Emmie is passionate about providing trainings on gender diversity, especially for mental health professionals. Outside of academics and advocacy, Emmie enjoys playing with their corgi puppy, cooking, Zumba, listening to and playing music.
